The Headline: Stocks Bounce Back But Economic Pain Is Still Looming
A stressful week on Wall Street is coming to a close. The AP reports: Wall Street rallies to its best day in months, but that’s not enough to salvage its losing week
To be sure, the heaviest uncertainty remains with Trump’s escalating trade war. There, the question is how much pain Trump will let the economy endure through tariffs and other policies in order to reshape the country and world as he wants.
This comes as it appears some Democrats may help Republicans push through a bill to avoid a Government shutdown. CBS is following the Friday vote:
The Senate is voting on moving forward with a Republican-led stopgap measure to keep the government funded ahead of a midnight deadline Friday, following days of consternation from Senate Democrats over an uncomfortable choice — to allow the GOP bill to pass or let the government shut down.
Today Canadian officials made it clear Canada won’t be the 51st state. The country’s new Prime Minister Mark Carney said: "We will never, ever — in any way, shape or form — be part of the United States. America is not Canada… We are a very fundamentally different country."
We all need a little good news, so it was great to see a headline from Variety today announcing Ted Lasso is returning for another season.
Apple TV+ has officially renewed “Ted Lasso” for Season 4, with series lead Jason Sudeikis onboard to return as the titular pun-happy, mustachioed football coach. No other castings are officially confirmed at this time, though it had previously been reported that options had been picked up for Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift.
